What's Unique about Open Bible Fellowship
Our goal is to help each person grow as far as they desire in the knowledge and the grace of God. We offer deliberate step by step studies which take a person from understanding the very foundations of the Christian faith up to and including accredited Bible School courses all the way to full ordination if desired. We take our goal from Colossians 1:28 which says: "Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ." Colossians 1:28 (ESV)
Faith is not just about knowledge but about coming into loving and accepting relationships with others. We consciously keep fellowship in mind as we plan our services and events in a way to help develop relationships. "And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother." and " If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen." 1 John 4: 21, 20 (ESV)
This means we believe God is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow, that He still answers prayers and still does miracles. His Holy Spirit still works and manifests His presence through these "gifts" of the Spirit. "Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts." Corinthians 14:1 (ESV)
We hold to the Scriptural attitude that we will "not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable", Acts 20:20 (ESV) Meaning we will teach what the Bible teaches and not shrink back because it may be controversial or that some object because they do not know or believe what the Bible teaches. We hold that the Bible is the true word of God and we must be balanced in teaching the whole of it.
God gives his people "gifts of the Holy Spirit." (I Corinthians 12-14). The “Gifts” are “manifestations” of different ways the Holy Spirit works in his people to minister to His people. The Holy Spirit was given to the church forever and “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8.
"Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. I Corinthians. 14:1" "What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. I Corinthians 14:26."
Worship is not just to be a program we sit through, but a personal, real experience of being in God's presence adoring, thanking and praising Him! “The true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23
The Bible says we are to worship Him with singing, clapping, playing instruments, raising hands, kneeling, rejoicing, dancing, prophesying, and even shouting praise to God. We are to enter into worship with liveliness, in good order.
Psalm 150:3 –6 says, “Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him
"Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with timbrel and dancing;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.”
"I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands,… I Timothy 2:8"
"So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. Psalm 63:4"
